Former Democratic U.S. Congressman Michael 'Ozzie' Myers paid Philadelphia Judge of Elections Domenick J. DeMuro to 'ring up' fraudulent votes on voting machines for Myers' clients and favored candidates in South Philadelphia's 39th Ward, 36th Division. Myers pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison.
A New Jersey Superior Court judge threw out Paterson's May 2020 all-mail Third Ward council election and ordered a new one. The judge found it 'was not the fair, free and full expression of the intent of the voters' and was 'rife with mail in vote procedural violations constituting nonfeasance and malfeasance.' Hundreds of mail-in ballots were found bundled in mailboxes. The NJ Attorney General charged the winning candidate, a sitting councilman, and others with mail-in ballot crimes.
All four California U.S. Attorney's Offices charged 28 lawful permanent residents (green-card holders) with fraudulently registering to vote and lying on naturalization applications; most allegedly cast ballots. DOJ says all 28 appear on a list of more than 20,000 likely noncitizen registrants it gave California, which California declined to review. DOJ sued California to set aside those voters' mail ballots until citizenship is confirmed.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's Election Integrity Unit and the Frio County District Attorney obtained grand-jury indictments against 15 people in a vote-harvesting scheme. They include the Frio County Judge, a former county elections administrator, city council members, a former mayor, a school trustee, and the chief of staff to a state representative. Separately, a Starr County woman was arrested for a ballot-harvesting operation targeting voters over 65 in the 2022 general election. In February 2026 a federal appeals court upheld Texas's ban on paid vote harvesting.
By June 22, 2026, 25 states had run more than 68 million voter registration records through the enhanced federal SAVE citizenship-verification system, according to a Department of Homeland Security document released in July 2026. The checks identified more than 400,000 deceased registrants and more than 28,000 noncitizens who had registered to vote.
Arizona requires documentary proof of citizenship (DPOC) to vote a full state and local ballot. In September 2024, state officials found that a decades-old Motor Vehicle Division coding error had wrongly marked about 218,000 registered voters as having proven citizenship when MVD never collected it. The Arizona Supreme Court allowed the first 98,000 or so affected voters to vote full ballots in 2024, and all affected voters were allowed to remain on full ballots pending later verification.
